Details

This accent table is handcrafted from a highly figured spalted maple burl bookmatch and designed as a functional statement piece for entryways, hallways, or beside seating. The tabletop has many organic contours and natural voids found in the burl.

Several voids were stabilized with black resin, with one intentionally left unfilled to allow discreet lamp or cord passthrough. This design choice makes the table especially well suited for use as a side or entry table.

The top is paired with a custom maple wishbone base, shaped by hand to complement the movement and irregularity of the burl. The base provides a light, sculptural foundation while remaining sturdy and well balanced. The contrast between the figured burl top and the clean lines of the maple base creates a piece with so much character.

This is a one-of-a-kind table built to highlight the natural beauty and variability of spalted maple. As with all highly figured and spalted material, seasonal movement is inherent to the wood. This tabletop has a slight, stable bow consistent with the nature of spalted maple, which does not affect the function or long term use of the piece.

The tabletop measures 20 inches by 36 inches with an approximate thickness of 1.25 inches, and the table stands 30 inches tall overall. Mounting hardware for attaching the base to the top is included, and free shipping is provided.

Due to the size, value, and one-of-a-kind nature of this piece, all sales are final. I’m happy to provide additional photos, measurements, or walk through the table over FaceTime prior to purchase. Please don’t hesitate to reach out with any questions.

Hey all, I’m Faheem. I’m a woodworker based in the metro Atlanta area. I began woodworking in 2023 with a simple goal: to create custom picture frames for my own space. What started as a personal project quickly grew into a broader practice, and today my work includes cutting boards, charcuterie boards, boxes, tabletops, and coffee tables.

My approach centers on letting the material guide the final design. For larger projects, I work with both locally sourced hardwoods and select slabs from the Pacific Northwest, where long growing seasons and centuries-old trees produce wide, highly figured material prized for fine furniture. If you’re interested in custom work or future projects, I’m happy to connect.
