This bracelet is one of their most antique button-intensive designs featuring seven antique, one-of-a-kind, Victorian-era buttons.
In this piece:
Susan Davis began making jewelry from boxes of buttons given to her by her grandmother in 1985. She named her business Grandmother's Buttons, and 10 years later, she was operating out the former Bank of Commerce & Trust Building in St. Francisville's historic district. She designed and handcrafted each piece of jewelry and eventually brought on several designers to help. The jewelry has been sold in museum shops worldwide with collector throughout the world. Davis co-owns the business with her husband, Donny, who also is the business manager. They announced their retirement in November and will be closing Grandmother's Buttons doors on Saturday, Dec. 31, after 37 years in business. Here's a quick look at Grandmother's Buttons and the inner workings of the business, which features heirloom jewelry made of antique and collectible buttons.
