During the 20th century, sterling silver sweetheart chains became a cherished gift for soldiers, often given by loved ones as a more intimate alternative to standard military ID tags. Worn close to the skin, these chains served as personal anchors, offering comfort and connection amid the uncertainty and chaos of war.

These earrings were created from salvaged vintage sweetheart chains found in Philadelphia.
