This portrait by style of dress is from around 1905 to 1925 as sailor suits were popular at that time for dress in formal portaits.

Bottom is stamped The Clemons Studios Troy, Schenectady, Utica, Norwich , and New York in New York State  The painted forest scene was typical at that time to evoke nature and to add depth to the photo.

Most photos I come across of this age have condition issues.  This one does not, looks like came right from the studio.
