Don't Touch My Hair

$275.00

Details

You heard her, don’t, touch, my, hair! Dating back as far as slavery there has been an infatuation with ethnic features and how they diversify across the globe. In America specifically during the slave trade African Americans were treated like cattle more than people. This treatment included using their course hair as wool for fabric. Years later this behavior transmuted into a hyper fixation on the texture of black hair. This piece is the first of a series titled “Her Story” Created in 2023 Water color, acrylic paint, hibiscus, and cotton on stretched canvas

Hey hey! My name is Kandace and I am an abstract artist though my work has been described as afro-psychedelic. I prefer to work on a stretched canvas with acrylic. However, I have resin, water color and marker pieces available for purchase😁
