Contemplation

This series of five paintings was inspired by those magical moments that hold true to the saying “the best things in life are free”. Like a too-beautiful-for-words sunset. Or being woken by a song bird chirping away outside the window.

If you know me personally, you’ll have heard me say how camping in the wilderness makes me more happy than any luxury hotel ever could. I spent a lot of time camping on our recent trip from Canada to Argentina. And then some more this summer… Watching dolphins play in the bay right where we pitched our tent. Dragonflies darting hither and thither as I swim in a refreshing lake. The wind tearing through my hair as I soak up the views over the mountain ledge I’m camped on. Wildflowers swaying in the breeze as I gorge on wild strawberries…

Moments like these feed our soul. They are priceless. They can’t be bought, only experienced. To find them, you need to slow down, spend time in a place, sit still and take it all in.
