Safety clasp in good working order

There is some damage to the enamel on the fron lower quadrant, the back has residue of what looks like tape. While I cleaned this piece the residue did not come off, and I didn't want to further damage the enamel by taking anything solvent to it.

I have collected vintage costume jewelry since I was a teenager. Restoring damaged and poorly cared for pieces is my newest passion. These things were often worn during memorable occassions, sometimes the happiest ones in a person's life. I like to think I am helping them live on to do that again for others.
