This studio portrait was taken by Fernando Dessaur, a New York City photographer active from the 1860s to early 1900s. The address “423 8th Ave, Bet. 31st & 32d Sts., N.Y.” places the photo between 1891 and 1901, when Dessaur operated his studio at that location.  Today this building is a T Mobile phone retailer.
