Antique All Composition Doll with Mohair Wig, Blue Tin Eyes, Open Mouth, Period Attire 18”H

$65.00

Details

Offered is this 18” antique, 1920s jointed, composition doll. She has blue tin sleep eyes, an open mouth with tiny teeth and the tip of a tongue just visible inside. Her hair is strawberry blonde and made of mohair. She has two original gold barrettes on either side of her head. Her outfit appears to be vintage and possibly original. She is dressed in period clothes. A white onesie with Peter Pan collar, trimmed with tiny lace is under a blue and white pinafore with ruffles at the arm holes and tiny rickrack embellishments. Black cloth shoes and knit socks (probably not period) complete the ensemble. She is in good to very good preowned condition. This doll came to me with a century’s worth of dirt and dinge. The composition has been properly cleaned and the hair set. The clothes have been gently washed. The doll came from a smoke-free/ mold free environment and has no odors. The manufacturer is unknown, but the tin eyes would date it to the 1920's or early 30's. Marked on back, “18”, assumed to be the length of the doll. No other markings found. She is just a precious antique doll that displays beautifully.

The impetus for my shop came to me when sorting boxes of treasures that had been left to me by various relatives. They were taking up too much space in my home and I wanted them to be with someone who would showcase, appreciate and enjoy them. In thinking about a name, I decided on Pangibles Vintage. I appropriated the name from one of my cousins who left me with many beautiful heirlooms, some of which are listed in my shop. She owned a small gift shop in the early 1970’s on the upper East side of Manhattan called Pangibles Gifts. Prior to opening the shop, she worked for Proctor and Gamble (otherwise known as P and G). She must have loved the work because she named her little little Shih Tzu pup Pangible…and then named the shop after her pooch. In tribute to her, Pangibles is open for business once again.
