Antique 3” Art Deco Celluloid Black Rhinestone Hinged Clamper Bracelet Tested 1920s

Verified Book piece. Classic American Costume Jewelry Volume 2 pg 93.

This is a tested thermoplastic black rhinestone clamper bracelet. It measures about 3 inches in circumference and about 1 inch wide. It is in excellent sturdy condition with a tight hinge. One of the rhinestones is yellowing, but the rest are sparkling. To my knowledge the stone cannot be remove because it is set into the plastic. I have never been able to change a stone.

Pre- 1927 with certainty. The test: bring enough water to a boil to pour in a clean bowl and cover the item. Let it sit for a couple minutes and take out of the water. If it has a camphor or pine smell it is pre-1927. After 1927 camphor was no longer used to make thermoplastic because of the fire hazard. There is no doubt or guessing about this item. It is celluloid, NOT Bakelite, NOT Lucite, Not Weiss
