Dear Reader,
If you have picked up this book with the hope of finding a pleasant story about children and their pets, you have picked up the wrong book, and you are likely a very confused individual.
The Baudelaire orphans have moved on from the wretched clutches of Count Olaf to live with Uncle Monty, a noted herpetologist who possesses a large collection of snakes and a heart of gold. While this may sound like a delightful improvement, I must inform you that it is merely a brief pause between disasters.
In the time it takes to say "Incredibly Deadly Viper," the siblings will encounter:
A car accident that is more than just a fender-bender
A terrible smell of gunpowder
An Italian assistant with a very suspicious beard
And a large brass reading lamp that plays a surprisingly tragic role.
I am professionally obligated to stay in this room and finish typing this report, but you have the freedom to walk away. I suggest you find a book about a friendly lizard who wears a hat, rather than reading another page of this Reptile Room.
With all due respect,
Lemony Snicket
