Original North Electric Company employee handbook for the Tennessee Operations, housed in the blue NEC logo 3-ring binder. Title page reads “Your Guide To The Future – North Electric – Tennessee Operations – Eighth Printing – Issued August 27, 1973.” Sections cover company history, expectations for new employees, detailed employment policies and procedures, compensation, benefits, attendance, safety rules, and rules of conduct, along with appendices for wage schedules and the incentive system. The binder also includes later insert pages with Social Security tax tables into the 1980s, an insurance booklet, and additional typed policy sheets, showing how the handbook was updated over time. North Electric was a long-time telephone equipment manufacturer serving independent phone companies, later owned by LM Ericsson and then by United Telecommunications (the future Sprint) before being sold to ITT in 1978. This handbook is a nice piece of telecom and industrial history from that United/Sprint era, and a great addition to a telephone collection or local Tennessee memorabilia.
Binder has some wear including discoloration / staining. Pages have minor foxing / staining but no rips or tears noted. See pictures for further details on condition.
