1928 classroom sample booklet for Compton’s Pictured Encyclopedia and National Teachers’ Service, published by F. E. Compton & Company of Chicago. Softcover magazine-style booklet measures approximately 10" x 7.5". Front cover features blue-tone artwork of children and teachers viewing scenes of exploration, science, travel, and industry, along with medals promoting Compton’s awards. Inside are sample pages from the encyclopedia, including “Ocean’s Wonders,” U.S. national parks and Yosemite, New York City and Ellis Island, human digestion, the Moon, and examples of the Fact-Index. Excellent piece of 1920s educational advertising and classroom ephemera, ideal for teachers, education historians, or collectors of vintage encyclopedia material.
Overall, very good for age with expected handling wear. Covers show light edge and corner wear, a bit of surface rubbing, and small creases at the extremities. Interior pages are clean and legible with mild age toning. Staples show some typical rust, but binding remains secure. No major tears or writing noted. See pictures for further details on condition.
