Ever heard of the "Great Locomotive Chase"? The General was a locomotive stolen by northern soldiers and spies during the Civil War. They were chased by southerners via hand car. It's a big story.

This note is a remnant of the railroad that owned the General. A really nice cancelled example of a 50 cent obsolete note. Dated June 2nd 1862 out of Atlanta Georgia.
